Solo For Sustainability

“Love Where You Live” is more than our motto. It’s our mission. Our love for our homes, neighborhoods, and city inspires us to take an active role in environmental stewardship. We demonstrate this commitment to sustainability in several ways:

1. Better Buildings

The built environment accounts for nearly half of all carbon emissions in the United States. The way our homes are built and renovated has an enormous influence on individual homeowners and society at large.

For this reason, Solo seeks to build and renovate properties in ways that reduce their environmental footprint.  For new developments like Kensington Yards, Solo incorporated a suite of features intended to reduce waste and minimize carbon including robust insulation and reclaimed materials.

Additionally, whenever possible, Solo installs green roofs on our properties. Green roofs reduce cooling costs, capture rainwater and carbon, and enrich the urban landscape.

2. Community Support

Solo Real Estate proudly sponsors the efforts of numerous like-minded local organizations including

Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS)

Kensington Community Food Co-Op

McMichael Playspace

Emerald Wildflower Garden

Hancock Park

3. Lifestyle

Have you seen our recycling bins around town? (If not, come pick one up! And a reusable shopping bag too!) We want to make it easy for our tenants and clients to recycle whenever possible. More recently, we partnered with Bennett Compost to encourage composting by offering Solo tenants a free two-month trial offer to get started.

Additionally, Deborah Solo, owner of Solo Real Estate has a NAR green certification from the National Association of Realtors and is a member of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council.
