Northern Liberties

Northern Liberties is one of Philadelphia’s most energized and growing areas. Harkening back to Penn’s industrial designation as a place for smiths and open space, Northern Liberties today is a fusion of artists, builders, musicians, professionals, young families, bistros, beer enthusiasts, studios, festivals, salons, and the new Piazza at Schmidt’s. You will also find dog parks, community gardens, and charter schools.

In Northern Liberties, old brick rowhomes, winding backstreets, and sleepy European gardens mix naturally with converted lofts, new high-rises, and a wealth of new services. Despite its growth and popularity, many buyers and those looking for apartments still appreciate the affordability and uniqueness of the spaces in this neighborhood.

RELOCATING DO'S AND DON'TS

Making a move to Philly? Don’t make these mistakes.

DO PLENTY OF HOMEWORK.

Relocating is a big task. Possibly changing jobs, moving your belongings, finding new friends, planting new roots … it can be overwhelming. Do plenty of homework and learn what you can about the Philadelphia neighborhoods you’d like to live in, schools for your children, and things to keep you busy outside
of work.

DON’T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU ARE TOLD.

Believe it or not, some realtors would rather “tell you what will sell you” – instead of what you really need to hear. But not at Solo Real Estate. We tell it as it is. Just the facts. Only the facts. How else can you make an educated decision?

DON’T RELY ON THE WEB ALONE.

Yes, you can learn much from an internet search. But nothing is more trustworthy or valuable than word-of-mouth testimonials. Ask friends and family or coworkers who they trust as a realtor and rental agent, what schools are best, what the best restaurants are … and do not be afraid to get references, too.

DO SEE FOR YOURSELF.

One great strategy we see often, especially for people moving from other climates, is to examine your new destination by visiting at different times of the year. Are the winters too cold? Summers too hot? Is there anything more beautiful than Philadelphia in the spring and fall (sorry, we had to add that last one
in there!).

DON’T DO IT ALL YOURSELF.

If you are being transferred, take advantage of your company’s moving services. If you are changing jobs, ask for assistance from your new employer. And do not be afraid to contact us. We are happy to help in any way we can.

DO GO SOLO.

Even if you are new to the area, you can think of us as an old friend. Family owned since 1951, we understand the value of honest and helpful customer service. Go Solo before you decide to go anywhere else.
